Our Purpose: The purpose of Immanuel Lutheran School, as a part of the ministry of our congregation, is to proclaim and show the message of God's love to children of our congregation and community so that they might come to faith in Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to nurture their Christian faith and equip them to live and serve as disciples of Jesus Christ. Each child and family, therefore, is an opportunity for mission in response to God's command to "teach all nations." Our Ministry: The ministry of Immanuel Lutheran School is to plan and carry out programs and activities that are guided by its purpose of teaching the Christian faith and serving the needs of its students and families. More specifically, teachers will strive to integrate the faith into all areas of learning. God's Word will be applied to students' lives through a balanced use of Law and Gospel. Christian teachers will model their faith as they serve students and their families. The school's program will provide opportunities for students to support and share their faith through worship, fellowship, and by witnessing to each other and the community. Our Teachers: The faculty of Immanuel Lutheran is both certified by the State of Michigan and the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. We believe that Christian education extends beyond the curriculum. Christian education is provided through interaction between students and Christian teachers and other significant adults who interact daily with the students. Our Curriculum: The curriculum at Immanuel offers a complete education for all students in preschool through 8th grade. Following our motto "We teach Christ in all things" our teachers use the Bible as a point of focus in every subject. All core subjects are taught in light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Religious instruction takes place daily except for Wednesday, when all students and faculty members worship together in chapel with family and friends. Music, art, physical education band, robotics and technology classes are also taught with Christ as the focal point in the instruction. Assemblies, outdoor education, and field trips are also scheduled by the teachers to enhance and broaden the scope of our instructional program. After school enrichment program are scheduled after school. Our Standards: Immanuel’s curriculum meets the standards set by the State of Michigan for preschool through grade 8. In addition, Immanuel is accredited by both the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) and the Michigan Non-Public School Accreditation Association (MNSAA) and is involved in a continuous school improvement process. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.” |
